KERALA- THE LAND OF GOD

What a long time, it’s been. Its 2013 this year, no action in a long time had left me rusted and I was badly looking for a trip. I was actually planning a trip to Andaman but things never go the way we think and ended up travelling to Kerala.  If you ask me, I always believe:

“It’s all about the journey. If the journey is fun then the destination is even better”

As I travel solo there are many things I do before it. Reading blogs, figuring out dying cultural things from that place and the most importantly figuring out a safe way of travelling. I have personally felt that travel is more than the seeing of sights, it is a change that goes on deep and permanent in the ideas of living. So I planned my trip first to allepey then munnar and Trivandrum.

ALLEPPEY

Alleppey is a place with true essence of scenic beauty where you can enjoy your journey as if it is your destination. The views which you witness here are one of a kind. Started from Bangalore, my train was on time. It was ages I traveled in train. Boarded my train from K R puram junction. I was sure that next 4 days going to be something completely for me. During my journey I always call my Dad in the morning and then switch off my phone and again call him in evening. From Bangalore to Alleppey there are direct trains and it takes ~12 hours. So finally reached Alleppey @ 6AM in morning. Booked an auto directly to back waters. Asked the auto to take me to the dock where all house boats are there. Talked to few house boat owners and finally settled down with a 1BHK house boat for 1D/N for 7000 rupees. Food, fruits included. Few
must things to do in house boat:
Ø  If you are going couple don’t take a night stay in house boat, there are few home stays far away in back waters, completely isolated from the world. You can dock your boat in evening near there and have a great romantic night in-between waters.
The best one I came across is Home stay in “Kainekerri panchayat”. Talk to this person- lalyapan 08943041084. One night stay is around 1000rs. All worth the money for such an amazing view. End of the day you will surely think what a day it was, romancing on a house boat and then in a home stay in-between water. All totally it is 10000rs a day.
Since I was single I did not take the home stay but trust me the whole day I was just sitting on the boat and absolutely doing nothing. That place offers a soothing effect of its aura on people. Go there enjoy the beauty of the place with sipping hot chai and munching on biscuits. There are many ayurvedic massage places on the way. Can also enjoy that. One guy asked me “sir will you try some massage”
Me:“what all massages you have”
Man:”All sorts, please check it out”
Me: “After checking the catalog, its too expensive”
Man: ”Sir please come inside, you will surely enjoy it”
Me: “Aaa no I am not in a mood”
Man: “Sir Come inside you will get in mood, ladies massage”
Finally the day came to an end, in evening I went to alleppey beach which is nearby. Had a peaceful evening and then returned to boat. Next day early morning had a direct bus to Munnar. Its 4hrs from here.

MUNNAR

If you ask me, I was not that exited visiting munnar. It is situated at a height of 6000ft. A good place to cool off during summer but the fact is during summer, it is a highly crowded place. So the best time to visit is during winter.
Must do in munnar for couples:
Ø  Take a full day out, hire an activa or bike, and roam around with your mate aimlessly through the hills. Find a cool and free space completely cut-off from city. Camp for some hours, enjoy the local homemade chocolates, wine and dry fruits. A great romantic day-off to revamp your desires.
Ø   In evening there is a local folk dance organized in the city main hall. Do visit that. Surely will be a great experience.
Places to visit in munnar: Top-point, Flower park, Elephant safari, Lake, Tata tea museum, water falls. All these can be covered in a single day time. You can book a cab for whole day for 1000.Finally after my two day visit I started to Trivandrum.

TRIVANDRUM

Did not visit any place there. Booked a nice hotel in trivandrum. Completely spent my time with two of my old friends. Visited the beach and chatted with friends for hours. Laughed over past events. Finally the time came to bead adieu to this good time. Boarded my flight back to Bangalore. On flight I was feeling “”chooti khattam aur kaam suru”” but anyways that’s life, the best things in life don’t last longer. As I always said it is all about the journey. I may be roaming alone through the tea gardens but I was brimming with fertile memories.

So folks all out there do start backpacking or do whatever you like….
